Dining in Toilet : T-bowl Concept Restaurant

Have you ever heard about T-bowl Concept Restaurant? A restaurant which is designed base on bathroom concept, where toilet bowl is used as seat, basin as dining table and even mini toilet bowl as food bowl? It might sound weird and crazy to “dine in toilet” but guess what! The restaurant does exist in Sunway Pyramid!

I had been curious about it and eager to have a try since I knew that special concept restaurant. On 20 September 2012, I finally grabbed the opportunity to have lunch at T-bowl restaurant with my friends, Yong Ler, Kar Mun, Ying Tze, Samantha and Karthi.

T-bowl Concept Restaurant is located at first floor, next to TGIF and Ninja Joe.

I have to confess that the creative decoration of the restaurant is really attractive to me. I could see that there were some food samples which looked delicious shown to the public before I stepped in the restaurant. The warm and bright colours of bathroom wall tiles ideally match the overall design of decoration and thus make a good impression to customers.

The cute design of poo on the ceiling.

There are toilet roll holders on the wall!

Toilet bowls as seats.I wonder is it comfortable to sit on?

Then, we were led to a table with 6 seats (not toilet bowls) by a waitress. Menus were on the table. There are some interesting names of the categories of food choice on the menu list such as ‘Big Poo Rice’ which actually includes chicken rice, fish rice, pork rice and so on. Can you believe that? Even the name is related to toilet!

Tables are designed with basin which contains bathroom accessories.

We did take a long time to decide on what to order when we saw those photos of mouth-watering food on the menu. The restaurant offers a variety of food choices. From the menu, I found that there is a “Value Set Lunch” which is available on weekdays from 11am to 3pm. For this value set, you can choose a main course and get a free jasmine green tea (hot/cold) plus pudding or fruit which cost only RM 11.90! As it was 12:30pm, I decided to have the value set of Thursday and ordered ‘Deep Fried Chicken Chop Rice’ as main course with hot tea and pudding.

Value Set Lunch (RM11.90):
Main course+jasmine green tea(hot/cold)+pudding/fruit

Although it was lunch hour, the restaurant was not crowded with people as only a few tables were occupied. I felt comfortable with the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were chitchatting while waiting the food to be served. Just after a while, drinks, puddings and fruits were served. I was really disappointed when drinking the tasteless jasmine green tea even though it was free. :(

Mango flavoured pudding served in a mini toilet bowl and hot jasmine green tea.

The food were soon coming to us! The chicken chop rice was served with a plate that shaped like toilet lid. It was fried rice with chicken chop which also came with steamed meat on a scallop shell, half of an boiled egg and some vegetables like carrots and baby corns. To me, honestly, it tasted normal and average which would not make me desire to have it one more time but it was still acceptable as the price of food is affordable and I was really full after eating.

Deep Fried Chicken Chop Rice.

It's me! :)

Attention! Finally the dessert, ‘Mix Fruit Delight’! It was the highlight of the meal! The chocolate and vanilla flavoured ice cream is rich and smooth while the fruits (kiwi, pineapple and strawberry) were fresh and tasty. If you are a ice cream lover, I bet you will fall in love with it. Don’t hesitate to try this flavourful dessert!

Yummy Mix Fruit Delight! (RM 8.90)

And when Samantha's chocolate ice cream melted...

It turned into this!

Cash bill and Ying Tze's privilege card which gives a 10% discount.

Overall, the only thing that I do not satisfy with is the service of the restaurant. Some of our orders were left out and we could hardly find waiters in the restaurant at that time to ask them to correct it. The waiters seemed not ready to provide service to customers even though there were no many customers in the restaurant.

Conclusion? Well, it cannot be denied that T-bowl restaurant is really special and creative with its concept. Although I do not strongly recommend the food (except ice cream), it is still worth to try to ‘have a meal in toilet’. Despite the quality of food and service, it is a suitable place to experience dining in an ‘unusual’ environment. And the decoration of the restaurant is really nice. I did spend a wonderful time with my friends at the restaurant. Anyway, this is just my opinion from my experience. You can go to any outlet of T-bowl restaurant to have your own experience. My advice to anyone who is interested in this restaurant--just give it a shot! :)

T-Bowl Restaurant @ Sunway Pyramid

So anyway we came across this little restaurant/cafe in Pyramid named T-Bowl. It's a "concept restaurant" that, obviously, is based around the experience of dining in a toilet. Pyramid is the third outlet - the other two are in Queensbay Mall (Penang) and in Sungai Wang. We're irresistibly drawn towards the cute white turd in the window and drop in for some drinks and desserts.

Atmosphere : The toilet concept restaurant is not a very large restaurant is not a very large restaurant. Have you ever thought that sitting on the toilet bowl and have meal which served insid the mini toilet bowl ? well , I know yuo guys think thay that it's so disgudting. But trust me, its not as disgusting as we thought.

                                                             The sample room of restaurant

Menu : We got amazed and suprise when we went in and try their unique dishes. The restaurant is about T- Bowl concept Restaurant. Basically, I went to the restaurant with friends which situated at Sunway Pyramid. And frankly speaking I and my friends fall in love with that restaurant.

T-bowl Concept Restaurant bring consumer a new and pleasant dining experiences. They serve delightful, thirst-quencning drinks , mouth watering and sumptous foods and also a comfortable atmoshere to dine in consumer will sut on acrylic toilet seats on front of bathtubs covered with glass ops & dishes are served from mini toilet bowl.

The Honey Lemon ($2.50) seems reasonably priced on the menu, but the urinal-shaped mug it comes in is very small. Thirsty drinkers would easily finish off the drink in 3-4 mouthfuls.

The Thai Style Fried Rice which include prawns and chickens was so delicious.
Food : Thai Style Fried Rice
 Drinks: Honey Lemon Juice
 Price: RM14

So, the verdict? "Concept Restaurants" like this one straddle a fine line between presenting a genuine concept (providing a unique, different and interesting dining experience), and being nothing more than a gimmick to appeal to our natural curiosity to try something 'new.'

Based on the taste and quality of the drinks/desserts, T-Bowl sits firmly entrenched in the "gimmick" half. Nothing we tasted would qualify for even a 'mediocre' rating, so it's also a case of curiosity killed the cat. Perhaps one visit would be okay for the novelty factor, but definitely set your expectations as low as possible before stepping in.

Service : The server was friendly and attentive and also helpful us with suggestions.
Overall impression : Was awesome!! Really had a best lunch ever..

The Creative Restaurant

If you’re looking for a restaurant around Klang Valley that have a unique ambience and environment and also of course, good food, T-Bowl Restaurant is a place that you should try! The Malaysia Star Newspaper published about T-Bowl in their food section when it was first opened and they thought that T-Bowl that has probably one of the most different concept.
So this news caught me and my friends attention during our hunt for a good place to have lunch and we were really curious when we saw how that restaurant has different idea of what a restaurant environment should be. Me and my classmates, Yong Ler, Kar Mun, Yvonne, Yi Li and Karthiyani went to try out T-Bowl restaurant in Sunway Pyramid on 20 September 2012 after class and was surprise to see a bathroom concept in a restaurant. Yes, it might be a little weird, but it had came to us that we should always be open to try something new and different when it comes to food!

So...here comes T-Bowl and their amazing concept!

They used toilet bowl as seat.
 And...basin used as dining table!

The decision of eating in T-Bowl made me and my friends excited, also giving us mix feelings even before we enter the restaurant and i'm sure you will feel that as well! Dining in a bathroom? The truth is some of us felt it was a little gross but it somehow didn't kept us from being excited! What I really like about this restaurant is that they really offer good food from a wide range of food from Japan, Korea, Western and many more. After browsing through the menu, I decided to try two of their speciality which is Chiang Mai style tang hun and Chocolate ice cream delight.

Chiang Mai Style Tang Hun (RM12.90)

So while I was eating my food, me and my classmates were all excited seeing a lot of different food on the table and we started talking about the food.

This Chiang Mai style tang hun has a really unique taste as it is a mixture of sour taste and a little spicy. For this dish they used chinese noodles which also known as crystal noodles and they also topped the dish with lots of cabbage, tomato, prawns, peanuts and also their sauce. And yes, they also served it in a toilet bowl. Overall for this dish, it tasted surprisingly good!

                                                  Chocolate Ice Cream Delight (RM5.90)

It may looked small in this picture, but the real size of this ice cream is actually worth the price! This chocolate ice cream was really good and I was so satisfied eating it. The chocolate flavor was thick and with the chocolate cause added onto it, I was all in a happy mood. My classmates also tried the ice cream together and they all agreed that it tasted great.

I have also tasted the other dishes that T-Bowl offer from my classmates such as Thai style fried rice and also another type of ice cream named mix fruit delight. It was a great time of sharing, not only food sharing but also sharing of thoughts and laughters. I must say the ambience and environment was surprisingly comfortable and the creativity of this concept made everyone's mood and dining experience at it's best. Not only that, it was affordable and they have many other set meal which cost only RM11.90!

So yes, do try out this amazing restaurant and I hope you'll have a good time like me and my friends had!

Assignment 2-blog writing "T-Bowl concept restaurant"

Last Thursday, 20-9-2012 ,around 12pm my group members who are  Kar Mun, Yong Ler, Yi Li, Samantha Wong, Karthi  and I had decided went to T-Bowl restaurant(Toilet Bowl Restaurant), at Sunway pyramid First floor having lunch for Business Communication PLNG012 assignment 2-Blog Writing.

As the assignment 2, we had discussed where we should go for our lunch. Moreover, we need a good ambience and strong feeling so that we can write a blog. After few discuss, we decided to T-Bowl restaurant for our assignment 2 because it is a concept restaurant which is design connect with the toilet and the seats are toilet bowls, tables are designs with toilet basin and some toilet accessories. This is my second time having lunch in T-bowl. The first time I visited T-Bowl was at Sungai Wang with my family. When I first time heard about it my first impression is so weird and feel like why it can be restaurant and it feels like eating shit. Although the name and the design feel like in the toilet, the menus are quiet delicious and the name in the menu was interesting.  In the menu of T-Bowl they have many types food such as spaghettis, chops, golden rice, cheese baked rice, shabu shabu, ramen, toast, noodles and so on. Besides that, it have value lunch set every Monday until Friday from 11am until 3pm by provide main course +drink+ pudding or fruit for only RM11.90 it is suitable for us as a student can afford it.

I had ordered lunch set as deep fried chicken chop rice, a hot jasmine green tea and fruit.

deep fried chicken chop rice
hot jasmine green tea
fruit-apples and papayas

It is so cheap and I can accept it for only RM11.90. While we are waiting the food, we were taking some photo so as to put our photo into blog.

Moreover, we also started joke about why we chose have a lunch at T-Bowl and we are waiting a food that looks like shit. A strong feeling was coming in my brain so weird and disgusting even though this is my second time step into T-Bowl restaurant. After a few minutes, our foods were coming and put in front of us. The food was looking like so delicious. Besides that, arrangement of food was attract my view. The funniest thing is Samantha had ordered chocolate ice-cream and when I saw it was a big chocolate shit that I ever seen before. We all feel so weird because when the ice-cream dissolves in the bowl we feel that was a “temporary out of service” so disgusting and so weird.

Around one hour and half, we feel like so happy and because of the food was delicious we are eating almost full. Conclusion, I strongly recommend that T-Bowl is the place that we should go toward it not because only the design is concept restaurant and also the ambience in the restaurant are too attract people view, people should look around it. For more information to u all, this is only my opinion and I didn’t force you step in and having lunch and I wrote this blog just let u all know that we had done our lunch in it. Thank you for  looking on my blog.

Dare to DINE with Toilet Bowl??!

~ T-Bowl Café ~
Can you ever imagine that, sitting on a toilet bowl and having your meal?haha
Strange as it may sound, it is already now a trend for the Malaysian people!
At first when I got to know this creative and, yet, a funny fact, I was really get a shock for the founder who risk to have such an innovative idea!!!
As far as I’ve heard from my friend, this café was originated from Taiwan and it has already been a success operating in Hong Kong .

Fear was lingering around of trying to sit and have my meal inside of that “weird” café.
Somehow, I did visit this cafe last Thursday with my coursemates which were Karthi,Ying Tze,Kar Mun,Yi Li and Samantha, and the result turned out was that….
“You should really give it a try!”

Here’s come with our beverages !!!
Potties that our drinks were in and the bath tub where the puddings were in

What a funny reaction shown on our faces even though we  were already came across with these creative cutleries in a magazine before…
Notice the tooth brushes and tools under the table

I should correct it as we were not having meal on table but a washbasin-like-table and with toilet bowl sitting on as chairs

The next turn was my main Couse !
As a choosy customer like me,
I was really attracted by the food once served in front of me
The wobble plate of my deep fried chicken chop rice was pretty well decorated

The –Deep Fried Chicken Chop Rice-
Here’s the meal that I had ordered
and the overall taste as well as texture was just enough yummy~
despite of the toilet lit served as a plate

What got me really funny was the face expression from my friends …
It was like, the second after my portion was placed down, and the second before I ready to get it a bit
It’d … … had already gone!!!
I was then realized that both my friend, Yi Li and Yvonne, they really can’t wait to capture with my lovely meal while theirs were still haven’t served to them

Last but not least, it was the dessert time after we had done with our meal!!!
A dessert can always delight your meal because
it would only be satisfied with a bite of dessert at the end of your dine
And,for your information, that was a crazy photo shooting moment ever

The –Mix Fruit Delight-
Or should I name it as shitty fruity ice-cream ??
                 erm…it might sounds too grossy

Well, ignoring the shit-like-shape ice cream,it was a tasty dessert for me
A perfect bite of freezing ice-cream with the colourful fresh fruits together!
Luckily i could finished it before it melted as a result of the slow capturing session of my friends and of course, myself
By the way, the waiter that served us with this cuisine already can predict almost every customer’s reaction(especially the female customers like us!)
And so, she just gave a light smile to us in which she had already used to be
With that,we done our wonderful lunch
We were all had a great lunch time there and I believe
it worked the same way for most customers that visit The t-bowl café

Overall, it worth you to take from your pocket and please feel free to give it a try!

(I am not trying to promote this restaurant, but, give it a clap for the founder that has been entertaining his customers in such a creative way!)
