Dining in Toilet : T-bowl Concept Restaurant

Have you ever heard about T-bowl Concept Restaurant? A restaurant which is designed base on bathroom concept, where toilet bowl is used as seat, basin as dining table and even mini toilet bowl as food bowl? It might sound weird and crazy to “dine in toilet” but guess what! The restaurant does exist in Sunway Pyramid!

I had been curious about it and eager to have a try since I knew that special concept restaurant. On 20 September 2012, I finally grabbed the opportunity to have lunch at T-bowl restaurant with my friends, Yong Ler, Kar Mun, Ying Tze, Samantha and Karthi.

T-bowl Concept Restaurant is located at first floor, next to TGIF and Ninja Joe.

I have to confess that the creative decoration of the restaurant is really attractive to me. I could see that there were some food samples which looked delicious shown to the public before I stepped in the restaurant. The warm and bright colours of bathroom wall tiles ideally match the overall design of decoration and thus make a good impression to customers.

The cute design of poo on the ceiling.

There are toilet roll holders on the wall!

Toilet bowls as seats.I wonder is it comfortable to sit on?

Then, we were led to a table with 6 seats (not toilet bowls) by a waitress. Menus were on the table. There are some interesting names of the categories of food choice on the menu list such as ‘Big Poo Rice’ which actually includes chicken rice, fish rice, pork rice and so on. Can you believe that? Even the name is related to toilet!

Tables are designed with basin which contains bathroom accessories.

We did take a long time to decide on what to order when we saw those photos of mouth-watering food on the menu. The restaurant offers a variety of food choices. From the menu, I found that there is a “Value Set Lunch” which is available on weekdays from 11am to 3pm. For this value set, you can choose a main course and get a free jasmine green tea (hot/cold) plus pudding or fruit which cost only RM 11.90! As it was 12:30pm, I decided to have the value set of Thursday and ordered ‘Deep Fried Chicken Chop Rice’ as main course with hot tea and pudding.

Value Set Lunch (RM11.90):
Main course+jasmine green tea(hot/cold)+pudding/fruit

Although it was lunch hour, the restaurant was not crowded with people as only a few tables were occupied. I felt comfortable with the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were chitchatting while waiting the food to be served. Just after a while, drinks, puddings and fruits were served. I was really disappointed when drinking the tasteless jasmine green tea even though it was free. :(

Mango flavoured pudding served in a mini toilet bowl and hot jasmine green tea.

The food were soon coming to us! The chicken chop rice was served with a plate that shaped like toilet lid. It was fried rice with chicken chop which also came with steamed meat on a scallop shell, half of an boiled egg and some vegetables like carrots and baby corns. To me, honestly, it tasted normal and average which would not make me desire to have it one more time but it was still acceptable as the price of food is affordable and I was really full after eating.

It's me! :)

Attention! Finally the dessert, ‘Mix Fruit Delight’! It was the highlight of the meal! The chocolate and vanilla flavoured ice cream is rich and smooth while the fruits (kiwi, pineapple and strawberry) were fresh and tasty. If you are a ice cream lover, I bet you will fall in love with it. Don’t hesitate to try this flavourful dessert!

And when Samantha's chocolate ice cream melted...

It turned into this!

Overall, the only thing that I do not satisfy with is the service of the restaurant. Some of our orders were left out and we could hardly find waiters in the restaurant at that time to ask them to correct it. The waiters seemed not ready to provide service to customers even though there were no many customers in the restaurant.

Conclusion? Well, it cannot be denied that T-bowl restaurant is really special and creative with its concept. Although I do not strongly recommend the food (except ice cream), it is still worth to try to ‘have a meal in toilet’. Despite the quality of food and service, it is a suitable place to experience dining in an ‘unusual’ environment. And the decoration of the restaurant is really nice. I did spend a wonderful time with my friends at the restaurant. Anyway, this is just my opinion from my experience. You can go to any outlet of T-bowl restaurant to have your own experience. My advice to anyone who is interested in this restaurant--just give it a shot! :)
